Haley Miranda Group: 2008
Most recently I did some work for Haley Miranda Group, a great little agency in Culver City, CA. I worked on emails, web banners, print collateral, advertisements, P.O.S. materials and some hand assembly work for CNN, Versus Network, ESPN 360, and Levi's.

"The Wood" MFA Thesis Catalog: 2008

I made this 20-page catalog towards completion of my MFA degree in Visual Arts from UCSD. I did all of the design and production of the catalog, in addition to making all of the artwork pictured in it, and directing the photo shoots of the artwork. It includes both my MFA show, as well as my show at the Santa Monica Museum of Art (Project Room One).
The work deals with the wood as a romantic space, as well as wood as a material. The catalog reflects the fairytale aspect of the work, reflected in the text, with its large drop-caps, and the images that unfold like a story book.

Irwin Kids Product Launch Collateral: 2008
As a freelancer at Irwin Naturals, I used established design elements to design and produce collateral for the launch of the Irwin Kids line of nutritional supplements. Items included a store display header, a poster, sales sheets, a sample box, and a giraffe printed box and envelope.

Cordell Corporation (for Natural History Museum of L.A.):
Cordell Corporation is a small company that has taken on a big project - the restoration of the Natual History Museum of LA County. I have been lucky enough to take part by designing and producing some materials for the project. These have included a one -sheet describing the process of seismic reinforcement of the 1913 wing of the building, and a commemorative poster including some images from the original architectural blueprints of the museum. The blueprints were not only huge, but in many places hardly legible, so that project took a lot of compositing and cleaning of scans. I've really enjoyed these projects because I get to learn a lot about the building while I do them.
The next project up will be a limited edition watch that will feature an image of the newly restored stained glass rotunda in the original wing.
Stay tuned for pictures...

UC San Diego: 2004-2007

In 2004, I left a fabulous job in New York City to get my Masters Degree in Studio Art at UC San Diego. I still managed to do some designing for events related to UCSD.

In 2007, I designed the poster and postcard for a 3 location project called "Where:" This series took place in three venues in three different cities: Residencies and a presentation in Tijuana Mexico at Lui Velazquez, a one day exhibition and performance series at Sundown Salon in Los Angeles, and a show at San Fransisco's Queen's Nails Annex. I based the design on on old pictographic maps. Fellow artists Sarah Hunsucker and Kate Hoffman and I each drew one venue, and I did the final design and production.

I designed and illustrated an original poster for the reading of the gifted young poet Ekiwah Adler Belendez for his collection "The Coyote's Trace." The image evokes a sunset along with the slightly psychedelic tone of many of Ekiwah's poems.

The first event I designed for was a one night Art Extravaganza called "Outer Space: Sixth College." The show's concept was to get the art out of the usual spaces art was shown in at the school, and utilizing the neighboring buildings of "Sixth" College. I created a poster, postcard and event map that reflected the bold energy of the event. The event was a smashing success! At least 500 people attended from both the school and the community.

Astralwerks Records: 2001-2004
From 2001-2004 I was the Director of Advertising for Astralwerks Records (a division of EMI Music) in New York City. Essentially, I was the one-woman design, production, and advertising department. I planned and booked all ads, I designed and produced packaging, advertisements, marketing, and point-of-purchase materials including magazine ads, posters, postcards, stickers, one-sheets, and CD & DVD packages. And sometimes I got to be really creative and design a sampler or party invitation from scratch. Below are some of my favorites.

Samplers: Free Sampler CDs were created for consumers or in the case of the "Mixed" samplers, for club DJs to promote the labels newest releases. I designed each sampler to reflect the feel of the music - edgy and psychedelic or electronic in 2004, more singer-songrwriter oriented in 2003.

Winter Music Conference Party Invitations: These were used to promote the label's yearly party at Miami's Winter Music Conference. Each card reflected the sun-drenched colors of Miami. The 2002 Party was an outdoor, all-day event, and the 2004 party switched to a nighttime club party. Note the logo-as-sunset in the 2002 invitation.

Assorted Advertisements: These are just a small sample of the many ads I produced for Astralwerks. They ran in publications large and small, such as Rolling Stone, Spin, Jane, Entertainment Weekly, Premiere, Out, Blender, Flaunt, Magnet, Mixer, Urb, Bust, Paper, Interview, Tokion, and Billboard.

Other Projects: Various

Here are some other projects that I have done through the years.

Postcard for Italian American Reconcilitation (Off-Broadway): Art-direction and design. The play concerns a rift between best friends. I used the layout of the snapshots to reflect this central relationship.

Wedding Invitation: This was an invitation and RSVP card designed with a low-budget. Everything is digitally printed. The invitation was printed on cardstock that was already green on one side, and the text was matched to that green. The RSVP card was printed on translucent vellum, with a decorative leaf printed on the back to faintly show through on the reverse side.
